On the way back
The plane was full , 117 passengers. The purser and two members of crew had to work hard serving drinks and meals during the two hour flight.
My seat , 10 D , was right by the emergency exit , so all of us sitting on that row received a little extra tuition on how to open the emergency door , should the need arise . All hand luggage had to be stored in the compartments above us , since nothing was allowed to be on the floor in front of us.
Now I have a friend , Mikael , who was a purser for SAS until he retired a year ago after over 30 years of faithful service . When he was last here for lunch he told me that I should always find out who the purser was because it was the purser who was in charge and responsible if anything untoward happened and so I decided to put this wisdom in action. Immediately after the emergency exit training I pipe up:
" And could you please tell me the name of the purser. My friend , Mikael B ..... told me to always find out ...."
" Oh your are a friend of Mikael .. how is he .. where is it etc etc ,do say hello from Gun and Agneta .... "
Well a while later , a bottle of champagne arrives for me " With our compliments "
NICE
Thank you very much
