I spend a lot of time on my own; a recluse, a hermit , interacting with the world via the computer and the phone , from the comfort of my home. Is this healthy ? Is this a period I am going through- a passing phase in my life as I cross over from one way of life into another?
I am in the process of startÃng a new business. I am doing it on my own too. Perhaps too much so.
Today I went into town to an open house event - a new centre of health and well- being has opened its doors to the people of Stockholm . Smack bang in the centre of town , in what used to be Jarla Theatre- now totally revamped to include every facility for one's well being. Anyway ... the trains were delayed this afternoon - but since I was not in a hurry, it was fine by me. I like to meditate, think and reflect while travelling. All sorts of creative thoughts , imaginings, ideas, prayers even come up , making themselves known to me on the screen of my inner eye. I remember I was also welcoming these thoughts to take my mind and focus off a tooth that has been bothering me and won't be taken care of intil after the weekend.
I looked across at the man in overalls splattered with paint that was sitting opposite me. Everyone is silent and he pipes up with ....
A conversation with a stranger on the train .
" What stone is it ? " he asks suddenly pointing to the purple ring on my finger.
" This one ? I can't remember , but it is quite rare. It comes from South Africa and it was found by a Japanese man.
" A rolling stone " then ... he says
" Rolling stone ? "
" Yes , a rolling stone ... like me , because I am one ".
" Oh - do you collect stones ? "
" No ......"
He didn't get to finish , interupted by an announcement that trains were running slow and a series of instructions about where to change trains.
" So much negative news " he continues with a worried look on his face " ... they just fill our minds with all this negative stuff.. it's too much .. they go on and on , nagging at us .... the media , television , newspapers "
"Yes , I agree.... but we can choose not to read papers and not to watch the news , that helps. "
" hmmmm ..........."
" and doesn't it remind you of ourselvesm the way we are, with our own own negative thoughts and the nagging voices inside our heads..... the converstations we have with ourselves ? "
A perplexed look appears on the man's face . "Oh dear .. I've confused him now" .... I think to myself .
" Well .. that too " he says " that too we could do without "

I smile and feel happy . I am grateful for this brief unplifting converstation with a stranger that came in direct response to a thought that I need to be out there among people, real people like Pekka . Thank you Pekka . Thank you Angels . I am grateful.

History:
Sugilite is named after Professor Ken-ichi Sugi, a Japanese specialist in rock formations, who first discovered it in southwest Japan in 1944. Although later noted in India, the first Sugilite suitable for jewellery use wasn’t recovered until 1979 from a South African manganese mine in the Kalahari desert near Botswana. The area in which Sugilite is found is known as the Kuruman manganese field. Although this region is dotted with manganese mines, only one, the Wessel mine, produces gem sugilite.
