Easter came and went

Easter came and went. Holy week had its own special impact on me, probably because of the 4 years spent at a Church Of England primary school.

I'm spiritual rather than religious. I took a test once which told me I was ! neo- pagan " which is probably closer to the truth. That might be because of my Latvian roots. " Dievturiba" , old pagan faith , lives on there despite Martin Luther's attempts to convert everyone.

"The faith known as Dievturība started in 1925 and is primarily based on Latvian folklore, old folk songs and mythology. By necessity, modern Dievturība differs from the historical Latvian religion. For example, there is no evidence that the Latvian pagans recognized a trinity of deities; in Dievturība, Dievs, Māra and Laima are a trinity of fate gods and goddesses.

Ernest Brastins (1892-1942) was the primary force in the early development of Dievturība. He was an artist, an amateur historian, a folklorist and an archaeologist. He documented many ancient Latvian temples and castles, writing the Index of Mythological Notions of Latvju Dainas. The catechism of Dievturība is Catechismus Teoforii. "

In me now is a wish to hold BOTH - the true Pagan and the true Christian and I am aware that labels limit.

Jesus is a good example of what a fine human being can be like. The dogma of religion and the distortions of the Bible I can do without , thank you very much. There's alot that got left out of the Bible , like a great chunk of Jesus' life . He supposedly went to India , and he also had children.

There must have been something out there in the collective , out in the world soul that I was tapping into last week. Thinking , reflecting, meditatating and philosophising. Questioning. Trying to make sense of it all. Trying to create my own understanding of what Easter is about.

Easter some thoughts that have come up :

Eggs - a symbol of live and rebirth. Resurrection . LIfe goes on , Life , like energy is indestructable. The body dies , but the soul lives on.

Jesus' suffering - something that happened over 2000 years ago , symbolic of the fact that we don't need to suffer any more. It's time we started living and being happy.

" The Passion of The Christ " was on T.V. I switched it off after 20 minutes.

A happy person is a good human being who is able to spread happiness and joy , simply through being there. We serve noone by being unhappy , ridden with guilt , shame , anger, despair ...

Love of Self - which means living the process of life itself.Loving ourselves instead of criticising ourselves.

Appreciation of beauty

Loving the process of the mind

Loving the body and the way it works so well

The whole range of emotions and feelings that enable us to fully experience Earth School and to learn from it and grow in awareness and consciousness.

Loving Nature and the nature of things

The Universe , The World Soul.

FORGIVENESS is key and this this is a powerful affirmation .

LOVE is everywhere . and often visible.
